Sorry to be so long getting back on this one.

We're using the HFS+ as pre-installed as the default for >1GB volumes: which appears to be 4k.  Any way to check more exactly?  

The disk is a 4GB.  
The G3 is a 300MHz server with Ultra-Wide internal SCSI.
