Visit the MacPerl Pages (http://www.ptf.com/macperl).  After looking
around a bit, wander over to the online copy of "MacPerl: Power and Ease"
(http://www.ptf.com/macperl/ptf_book/HTML/).  The introductory chapters
should get you on your way.  And, if you get tired of reading it on the
web, you can always buy a copy (:-).
