Hello all, A while ago (actually, quite some time ago) I began a project that may be of some interest to some of you. I wanted to make a mailing CGI that could handle any number of different groups of data and "pretty them up" before mailing them. So I made exactly that and was rather proud of myself, except it was still too complex for anybody else to appreciate it. Later on I ported it over from UNIX to Mac and when I did I improved on it's functionality - though it was still too difficult to be of much use to anybody except me. Sigh. Just lately I've been consolidating the Mac and UNIX versions into one single program, as well as adding a "mail template" package, so non-programmers can easily (or _more_ easily) use it. A plain text template, with field names in square brackets, can be compared against the data sent by the form. Field names are replaced with the field values and then the updated template is mailed off. The template package can handle a few complex events like calculations and nesting, but I'm sure it could use a boost in functionality. That's one reason why I'm posting this message. This CGI seems like a good idea to me, and so I'm more than willing to share it with the rest of the community. If anybody is interested in this program, feel free to take and use it. It would be nice to get some feedback on portability issues. A number of values are hard-coded in to the packages in various places - I initially just wrote this for myself. Any recommendations would be gladly received. Please ask me any questions you might have. -josh PS. http://telecommunity.ola.bc.ca/dev/is/OLAm_1.0.sit.hqx ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
