I realized after I sent this that if you're dead-set on resizing jpegs
with perl, the best way to do it might be to install linux, the gimp,
and the gimp perl modules.

I haven't gotten around to installing linux on my powerbook yet, but a
perl-scriptable image manipulation program is one of the primary
attractions.
