>I have a problem: >I need to get data from database and use it in MacPerl. >I have 4D Dimension and Claris File Works. >Do you have modules for they or any other database? I have never used Claris File Works. I use 4D alot but have never directly interfaced it with MacPerl, and I would say that would be possible but non-trivial to accomplish. I am using 4D version 3.5 with a product called Netlink/4D which extends 4D so that it can communicate as a CGI via Webstar apple events, and I am sure you could take advantage of that in MacPerl. Better yet, the latest version of 4D (version 6?) has this capability built-in. Finally, it is quite possible to extend 4D using any language that can generate CODE resources (e.g. C but not MacPerl), and build in any kind of interface you wanted, but that is definitely not for the faint of heart. >Or, exists any SQL Servers on Mac? Butler is a Mac-based SQL server. I have used it quite a bit, including for one major project, and it is not bad. There is a (non-DBI) MacPerl module for it called (not suprisingly) Butler.pm by Peter Chen <petechen@math.rutgers.edu>. I think there is a link to the source for this on the MacPerl home page. Butler is a commercial product. Their minimum, 5 seat license is $695.00. You can find it at: https://shop.everyware.com/tango/tangomerchant/company_folder/WC_init.QRY?Action Arg=subcategories&Debug=0&CategoryCode=BUTL&CategoryName=Butler&Source=Company_f older&CatGif= I get the feeling that it is a very mature (in the bad sense) product that could even go away. Thus, if you need it, I wouldn't delay too long purchasing it.
