It may not come as news to you, but there is a Mac version of emacs available
at ftp://ftp.cs.cornell.edu//pub/parmet/Emacs-1.17.sit.bin. I haven't used it
much and the interface seems kind of odd to me, but I guess it's an
alternative for people who want to have things both ways (sort of).
