What about people who deal with dates in the 1950's? Lots of people still living were born then, so a database with birthdates would have plenty of dates from the 1950's and earlier. The fact is, *any* 2 digit date is hoplessly ambiguous, and interpreting such dates must be special-cased by a given application. In certain circumstances you *want* '57 to mean 2057, in others, you want it to mean 1957. There could be no all purpose fix.
