Normally, it is related to bad phone lines or the ISP itself. I actually did have a problem with connecting to AppleShare hosts over Ethernet under 8.5, and I fixed it by zapping my PRAM. Whenever I cannot diagnose a problem, I: * Restart * Check for viruses (if check fails, try again later) * Run Disk First Aid * Delete and Rebuild the Desktop(s) * Reset the Power Manager (on my PowerBook) * Zap the PRAM * Run Disk First Aid again >>Hm. You might need a system reinstall. Do the troubleshooting above, then think about a move on to a MacPerl reinstall, and then a system reinstall. But maybe someone else has some easier solutions first. But it sounds pretty serious to me, that I would at least try the troubleshooting above. -- Chris Nandor mailto:pudge@pobox.com http://pudge.net/ %PGPKey = ('B76E72AD', [1024, '0824090B CE73CA10 1FF77F13 8180B6B6']) ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
