Apple's documentation on the Mac Toolbox (the API for the MacOS) is a series of books collectively known as Inside Macintosh. That documentation is now online at <http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macos8/mac8.html>, so presumably most everyone using MacPerl (or most everyone using a Mac, for that matter), has access to it. It's absolutely necessary if you're doing any work with the Toolbox, whether through MacPerl or other means.
