I wouldn't have a problem with having a crack at them, and I'm 6 months into a perl journey. My thought about the list of five simple programs was around giving some achievable goals to yourself that will keep you feeling "yes I can do this stuff" and providing some fundamental learning along the way. How suitable is this list in your process depends on a range of things, like: a. How much time do you have b. What level of knowledge of perl do you have now c. What areas of knowledge of perl do you have d. What areas of non perl knowledge do you have e. Where do you lie on the line between "I just love the process of writing programs" v "I just want what the programs can do" But, given all this, I reckon it's a great list. Cheers ...
