Actually, it works for me using MacPerl 5.2.0r4 with the 19-May-98 
QuickDraw and QDOffscreen.  It didn't work when I had JUST the 
QDOffscreen, or I should say it worked BADLY.  I just dropped both into 
site_perl and made sure MacPerl looks there first.
