Several years back I stumbled upon an app called MacShell - it was in beta version. If I remember correctly, it does most, if not all, of what Charles seems to be looking for, although it isn't MacPerl. It should still be available on Info-mac or the other usual places. I may still have a copy on a disk, if anyone is interested, and unable to locate it elsewhere.
