I have a program that runs out of memory and causes MacPerl to hang. I'm looking for a way to have the program intentionally quit MacPerl before it bombs and then restart itself. I have experimented with having the program write a file to keep track of it's progress, then using Applescript code to restart the MacPerl program which then would use the file to resume its progress. Unfortunately some of my attempts make my Mac lock up.
