I have been using GIFConverter (www.kamit.com) for non-scripted work, and 
I note that it claims a degree of scriptability. Just for my reference, 
if anyone here has experience using it for the kind of scripted graphics 
work this thread was talking about (scaling, clipping, format conversion) 
I'd like to hear about useful it was.
