I have downloaded MacPerl some days ago: it is an interpreter. Right? I have downloaded some programs written in "perl", some Windows, others MacOS versions. First, I would like to test them as standalone on my Mac, in order to adjust the parameters and data files, before to upload them in my home-page or some cgi-bin (or other?) directory of any server; I have no "personal" server but only a subscriptioned one and a free home-page in Yahoo. What would be the simple or complex, or impossible (?) things to do: 1) to put together the programs and the MacPerl interpreter in one directory in my Mac? 2) to make them to run (standalone)? I wonder if there exists some "server simulator" , something like the "windows simulator" for the Mac (VirtualPC)? 3) to upload all this stuff (interpreter + programs + data files) or only a part of it (programs + data files) into the server? Is it mandatory to put the Perl programs inside the "cgi-bin" directory of the server? 4) to test the same programs from "external user side", i.e. through netscape or any www browser? Thanks in advance for any clues or www addresses to help me elucidade these rather trivial questions.
