According to Andreas, CPAN-1.54 should now work again.  He reverted=20
the \z back to $, since \z is only supported in 5.005 and later.  I=20
haven't installed it yet, though.

That looks an awful lot like a problem that cropped up in a recent=20
libnet and was fixed.  Which version are you using?  The latest=20
(1.0703) seems to work fine.
