'lo, Nice to see a fellow Milwaukeeian around here. I wouldn't recommend starting by contacting Larry Wall directly. I imagine he's a rather busy man. But he has a home page on the net with a lot of information about Perl and links to interviews with him that probably contains much of the information you are looking for. Perl FAQ: http://www.perl.com/pub/doc/manual/html/pod/perlfaq1.html Larry Wall's Home Page: http://kiev.wall.org/~larry/ Perl History: http://history.perl.org/ You may also want to check out "Learning Perl" from O'Reilly <http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/lperl2/>. It includes some history and philosophy of Perl. If you find that none of the information from these sources meets your needs, you can always try emailing Larry. His email address is on his web page but there's also a warning, "I do answer my email. Occasionally." In other words, you will probably get the info a lot faster if you look for it yourself.
