The last xv I used was release 3.10 and was obtainable in source and binary for common platforms (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, etc.) from U.Penn for essentially the cost of an ftp. Unless the thing has regressed in recent years, I still say they're equivalent. "xv" Makes fewer assumptions than GC, which makes one understand more of the mechanics of image file manipulation. I know of one individual who has even attempted to port it to OS/390 USS, I don't know how she fared. But she is persistent enough to get it working... >Bill Becker wrote: > >> "xv" is to Unix as "graphic convertor" is to Mac. > >This comparison does a disservice to GraphicConverter. >xv is to GraphicConverter as Volkswagen is to Mercedes. > > >> Only xv is absolutely free with downloadble source... > >xv is $25 shareware... > >Check out the home page at: http://www.trilon.com/xv/ > >jay > > # ===== Want to unsubscribe from this list? # ===== Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to macperl-request@macperl.org
