Is there a way, through MacPerl, to set an application as "faceless" (meaning, it doesn't show up in the process list)? Ultimately, what I'd like to do is create a script that runs faceless, without resorting to the instructions here: http://zymm.com/raster/code/facelessapp.html (Thanks, RasterWeb). I'm just barely beginning to mess with the Mac specific parts of MacPerl for a porting project (see below / stop reading if your subject-line anal). Porting project: Does anyone know of a open source cron implementation for the Mac? I know there is MacAT [1], which isn't opensource, and is shareware. I also know of T-Minus-Ten [2], the iDo Scheduler (included on 8.5+ CDs), and a closed, dead (?) cron port [3]. Ideas? I already know the fallacies: memory hungry and large compiled app for those without Perl, faceless script won't help a non-faceless MacPerl for those with Perl, etc., but I want to try for the Sake of Trying (tm).
