Many in the Washington DC area use the term "thang" as well, not just our
favorite Nabraskans.  for example:
person one:  "Marion Barry, weren't he dat doo whit duh drug thang?"
person two:  "werd g"

But even in that sense it is used in the sense of a skill to describe the
ex-mayor's drug habits.
