If all you want to do is boot Linux, you can get away with as little as 10
MB for Mac OS if you're using System 7.1. I believe the LC630 requires
something more recent, but I expect that 20 MB would be sufficient if you
don't load all the unnecessary stuff onto it. If you actually want to do
real work in Mac OS, you'll need more.

Your options are Linux and NetBSD. Linux/m68k has Mac support, and
Debian's installer works on Macs. See <http://www.mac.linux-m68k.org/> and
<http://www.debian.org/>.

In other words, yes. The m68k perl binaries work as expected. If you're
intending to do serious Perl work (and you get to choose which platform), I
strongly recommend Linux over Mac OS. MacPerl is great, but it's not the
same as using perl.

Hey, I used a Performa 475 for five years, and I used it for C++, MPWsh,
and Perl development. (In fact, it was the machine that compiled the first
working Mac68k Linux bootloader -- I was the maintainer.) :-) Now I have a
7100 with a G3 upgrade. =)
