[MacPerl-Modules] CPAN config problems

hello.

after another(!) hard-disk wiping crash, I am bulding up my tools into a
presentable state. however, on trying to configure the CPAN module, I am running
into the following problem:

when I reach the section dealing with which country I am in, the return key does
not work: the cursor moves to the next line after I have entered the number
corresponding to the region I live in, and does....nothing. he only way I can
get it to advance is by typing 'control-d', and then I get the message that
"that looks like an invalid file: / -carrying on anyway" - and then I'm in an
endless loop.

any thoughts on this, anyone?
