All of these nits are by way of bringing up the question of preafrooding. V&I are both fairly good copy editors, if a bit quirky at times. Baiju is not, AFAIK, and our authors should not expect him to be. So, we need to have a way to get articles thoroughly scanned before they are sent in to PerlMonth. My suggestion is that the "final" drafts for all articles get sent both to Brian and to the Scribes. Those of us that have time can chew on the material and submit comments. I see this not only as a collegial way to improve the text, but also a running workshop on writing. A side benefit, of course, is that Scribes get an early look at the columns. The mechanics of formatting deserve a comment. IIRC, Vicki has been submitting HTML to Baiju. This lets her see columns much as they would appear in the magazine and is a Good Thing. I think we should probably encourage this, possibly doing our internal "publishing" by means of links and semi-private URLs. So, if Arved has an HTML piece for review, he simply puts it up on a web page somewhere, then sends the Scribes a link. If anyone doesn't have a web server to use for this, let me know. We can easily set up a few accounts for Scribes... -r -- Rich Morin: rdm@cfcl.com, +1 650-873-7841, http://www.ptf.com/~rdm Prime Time Freeware: info@ptf.com, +1 408-433-9662, http://www.ptf.com MacPerl: http://www.macperl.com, http://www.ptf.com/ptf/products/MPPE MkLinux: http://www.mklinux.apple.com, http://www.ptf.com/ptf/products/MKLP ==== Want to unsubscribe from this list? ==== Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to macperl-scribes-request@macperl.org
