Since I've yet to FORMALLY volunteer (although it's all but certain!), I can't confirm either (yet) whether the above is etched in stone. However, consider it a reasonable guideline. There's likely to be some flexibility as to the upper limit (if you need to stretch it to 2400 words that's okay), and longer articles could be split into parts (if the subject matter merits a fuller treatment). Otherwise, 1500-2000 words, in it's final draft form 30 days before it's scheduled run-date.

We can add "The Process Manager: Mac::Processes" after my name. It's what I've been working on recently, so writing about it should be a comfortable step. I'm not sure Bruce's "Grep/Map/Sort" piece is appropriate for the "Script Different" column (not Mac-specific), but since Bruce develops on the Mac and deploys to Unix I've suggested to him that THAT might be a suitable subject (as with the irrational prize he owes me, he's still considering it).

Of the above mentioned possible articles, David Steffen's is the most complete, needing only a bibliography. Unless something SPECTACULAR hits my Mac desktop in the next ten days it's a shoe-in for the April slot. Looks like I have to fill May and June, either on my own, or with submitted articles as they arrive. With Arved's next article in July, that pretty much covers the next for months. Gee, I'm even beginning to SOUND official.
