Re: [MacPerl-Scribes] Computer Problems....

My second column is not even started (still doing the research) and I
am not competent to finish Brian's column, but...

I'm wondering if this is what is needed. Brian is the person who
ultimately must answer that question, but I had not interpreted what
he said so strongly.

I know I pushed pretty hard to get my first column in "on time", on
time being well before the April 1 publication date, and unless I am
mistaken, it has yet to appear and here it is April 19.

1) I wonder when the "real" submission deadline is?

2) I wonder how much more Brian can do, given some more time?

I have been staring at the column thinking of what suggestions I can
make. Fortunately, there are many good proofreaders in this group
because I am not one. My more general comments are:

1) The first thing I noticed about the column is that it seemed on
the short side.

2) I think the idea of trying to get Jim Correia to add something
from his perspective is a good one, and if y'all think it appropriate
and if he doesn't read this list, I'd be glad to contact him.

3) In the column, Brian says:

"I've done other scripts which do more complex things, such as generating an
XML file, then parsing it to create HTML. However, I'm saving the really
tricky Perl Filters for Chris Nandor."

I'd say, if Brian has a clever script or two (especially the
XML->HTML script), add 'em in with a little commentary.

Finally, if what's needed is finishing the HTML, that I can (and
will) do (using the style of what Brian submitted for my last column).
