The amount of time spent in trying to fix such a beast could be spent in
developing a 'wwwboard' like function which does what you want...

I mean think about it - do you really want people adding attachments? Do
you really need 50K+ postings? If you feel the answer is 'yes' then do what
we did - install a News Server for internal use only.

IMHO, wwwboard is an attempt at what services news server (or a listserv)
provides.

And if you are worrying about parse control scares and having your postings
'expire' just turn off remote admin and turn off expiration.

You would need to manually administer it and manually expire postings -
but hey, isn't that what wwwboard provides?

Another argument is - News Server X or ListServ Y costs money? WWWBoard was
free... My answer: Was it free? How much is your time and aggravation
worth to you and your company?

My $0.02,
-Sneex- :]
