Some other consideration: Executable files have to (in most cases) reside within the cgi-bin-folder or within a folder within the cgi-bin-folder. If one thing works and the other thing does not ... if it were my work, I would try an approach ITEM BY ITEM, and I am sure I would find out what are the conditions Perl does and does not like.
