Re: [MacPerl] MacPerl 5 Runtime question

Thanks for the suggestion. I rebuilt the desktop but it did not have any impact.
I then kept looking around at things and finally stumbled on the answer.
In the preferences for MacPerl there is an option to either Edit or Run
scripts started by the finder, for some reason I had the Edit option
selected. When I changed it to Run, everything worked fine. However, before
I found this, I had already reinstalled 4.1.8, so it may be awhile before I
try MacPerl 5, again.

This does, however, lead me to wonder why, with the Edit option selected,
didn't MacPerl startup an edit session? Perhaps it attempted to but since
the file was an application rather than text file, it produced the error?

What are the primary reasons or benifits to going from MacPerl 4.1.8 to
MacPerl5? I will use it for CGI and admin. task stuff. Are there any
compelling reasons to update or is it just good to stay current?

I have the Camel & Llama books. What is the status of updates to these
books for Perl5? Are there any plans for a MacPerl reference book?

Thanks,
Scott Weaver
