[MacPerl] MacPerl 5 on Mac SE?

I was using MacPerl 4.13 on a Mac SE 4/40 with Sys 7.1 Hardware Systemupdate 3.0. Runtime and MacPerl is running ok.

Upgrading to 4.18 bombs at startup of MacPerl. (system bomb 2)
Macperl 5.07 bombs at startup (system bomb 2 -- adress error)

My Questions:
Is MacPerl newer versions designed for running on Mac SE?
Is the Runtimesystem designed for running on Mac SE?
Is it possible to make a version for Mac SE?
(Where) Can I obtain a running version for Mac SE?

BTW, I am a once a year C-programmer... -- Years ago, when I had no Internet access, I made a port of "awk" from msdos Turbo-C to ThinkC 5.0. Now I found MacGAWK. -- Hmm... So I like to ask the community first.

Any sugestions?
