When I've had MacPerl CGIs dying on me and refusing to acknowledge the
"Quit Now"  button, what has worked is clicking on the "Quit Now" button
and then hitting the Force Quit key combination before releasing the mouse
button. If you aren't holding down the mouse button, the OS asks if you 
want to Quit something else which is running instead.
