Tim,

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work.

The problem exists on both the 68K and PPC.

I tried your suggestion on the 68K machine (SE/30).
5.1.0r2 was still on the HD, 4.1.8 is already gone,
but it was present when I originally installed Perl5.

So, I trashed the MacPerl Ä folder and emptied the trash.
Then I did an install again. The install went fine.
I selected the 68K version rather than let the installer
pick it, but I doubt that matters.

I opened a new file and typed: print "hello, world";. I
saved it as Runtime Version. Double clicked on the new
application, the menu bar changed but the script did not run.

Any further ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Still trying,

Sorry for the error in the version number in my original
post. I copied it down wrong, 5.1.0r2 not 5.0.1r2.
