You can try Net::SMTP from libnet:

<ftp://mors.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/MacPerl/Scripts/libnet-1.04.sit.hqx>

and MailTools, which requires Net::SMTP to actually send mail but makes it
a little easier to compose mail:

<ftp://mors.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/MacPerl/Scripts/MailTools-1.09.sit.hqx>

If you're going to use MailTools, read the README.Mailtools.mac for some
cautions.
