[MacPerl] Why does AECoerceDesc from alias to text fail?

When I try to coerce an alias descriptor to a text (typeChar)
descriptor the coercion fails in MacPerl although it works.

Actually I'm not that much interested in coercion in particular, what I
intend to do is send an AE with a list of aliases to a script, have the
script process the files and return something to the AE sender. Now I
can't figure out how to get at the paths of the passed files.

Has anybody done something like this already?

Also, I'd like to use the MacPerl OSA-component instead of the
application. I haven't tried, but I guess it won't work. Or, is anyone
using the component successfully?
