According to Wm. L. Scheding: > Hi Again, > > I am interested in building a counter in perl. I have the source to one > I've been using on unix, but it uses utilities to convert a bitmap > to a giff to be returned as the result of the execution of the script. <snip> I haven't created one, but the qd.pl routines do this same thing (ie: make a gif file which you can then pop up on the screen). However, I've been reading my new-new-NEW HTML 3.2 book from Sam's Net. A very nice, though expensive book ($70.00). However, (I know I'm on a side track here - sorry) the book is IMHO worth the money. If you haven't seen this book - go to your local book store. It's huge. It has a slick cover (feels like waxed paper), high quality Baxter glossy white paper and talks about HTML, Perl (and MacPerl), Tcl, how to integrate C, C++, Pascal, and other languages. *whew* Ok - back to the subject: I was going to say - why do this as a graphical image? If for glitz ok, but you can also do this with just plain text and it would be faster.
