Actually, it's a limitation of the system standard TextEdit package. There may be a way to work around it, but I would reccomend you use either BBEdit (with expected perl v5 support in the next major release (i.e. BBEdit 4.1)) or Alpha for editing. Neither has the 32Kb size limit and both can be made to work with MacPerl.
