[MacPerl] startup disk

I'm trying to set a variable to a folder inside the Preferences folder of
the system folder. As long as I use the hard drive's name in the path,
everything works fine.

What I'd like to do is use a generic name of the disk, so the script
could be run on any mac without having to modify the script to put in
the startup disk's name. I'm sure this is possible, but I can't come up
with the term. In AppleScript "Startup Disk" works. Is there such a term
in MacPerl? Thanks.
