My thoughts exactly. I get into netnews EXTREMELY rarely; it requires extra effort and time I can ill afford. Contrariwise, mailing lists just appear automagically on my system and get autofiled so I have a good archive. (I'm the person who periodically asks around if anyone has a good automatic newgroup --> Email program; so far, no one doies (the offline readers don't do what I need) . I'm not even sure I would like to see a companion newsgroup, as this would mean some things would go to the newsgroup, some to the list, anbd only some to both. I'd miss a lot of information; I wouldn't care for that. At 4:55 -0700 on 970612, Chris Nandor wrote: > But what about the idea of having a mailing-list<=>usenet gateway? I still wouldn't have to read netnews, and anyone who wanted to (or didn't have a good Email client :-) could do so. We might get new MacPerl users if we had a newsgroup version. Moderation would slow down the junk newsgroups get and preserve the signal/noise ratio. But... who has time to moderate?
