[MacPerl] Alpha & MacPerl, more than Filters

Hi all,

I just subscribe to this list. I've been writting modes and goodies for
Vince's Additions that go with the Alpha editor. Iv'e just played a bit
with Perl and would like to use it for various task that don't code well in
Tcl, but I find the filters that Alpha supports limited.

An example of what I'm trying to do would be better integration for
WebLint. WebLint is an html source checker. I's like to get it to send
Alpha a window of results in the built in 'Brws' -mode (Browser Mode,
provides links to source lines).

Can I have a wrapper program that take the output of WebLint and puts it
into the correct format, (i.e. using what would be called indirection in
dos).

Do droplets respond to appleEvents, so I could send an html project fileset
to the droplet and get it to pop the results window up in Alpha?

Just about any language supported in alpha could use a lint program, are
there any examples of perl implemented 'lints', or programs that do the
sort of parsing that lint programs usually require?

Any suggestion?
