Do the Mac's limitations (I work at Apple; I can call them >limitations :-) affect your Perl coding style? hi vicki! I have two sparc's sitting next to me and another in the closet...when i need to write perl code, i open up bbedit write my code and then command-shift-o to save the file on the unix box. then i use telnet (from my mac) to execute the code. it is much easier to write/run it on the unix box cause i don't need to worry about any limitations... although, i have done some droplets for people with macs who need to do stuff like sort a text file, etc...those are quite handy and macperl always does a wonderful job for stuff like that. in fact, i include a droplet with ClearlyHome to sort the config file... btw, i would use mklinux more often, except that the default installation has perl and all the other binaries not located in /usr/local/*... (last time i looked) this makes it real hard to do updates on software without having to wait for apple to do one first. imho, any software not core to the system should be installed in /usr/local/*... thanks, -jon ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
