Here are all four for the PC Pro 180: PC Pro 180: Mac OS 8.0: MacPerl 5.1.4r4: 2 seconds MacPerl 5.1.3r2: 18 seconds MkLinux DR2.1 Update 4: perl5.003: 4 seconds perl5.004: 4 seconds There is one major difference, and that is that the Mac OS tests are on a faster SCSI bus than the MkLinux tests. Also, on the 7100/66, the MkLinux is on the same bus, but a different -- and slower -- drive. Nevertheless, it is obvious fromthe first two tests up there that the speed improvements are dramatic.
