You should upgrade to 5.1.4r4, been released a few weeks now.  But no, no
changes in the editor are planned.  Use freeware Alpha or BBEdit Lite or
the payware BBEdit for a good text editor.  Matthias has stated he simply
has no time, desire, or other inclination to improve the text editor, as
most people do not use it much anyway.  :-)
