I don't think you get the point here. Probleme is not that facespan is slow
or not. It would just provide a very nice UI to triger perl scripts
executions instead of counting on a shell like interface to launch them and
provide options and parameters.

I think it will broaden the MacPerl usage. What could be interesting is as
Philipe said wil be top provide a 2 way applescript communication between
facespan and MacPerl in order to quickly code drop shell like mac
Application that use perl script as the core engine and facespan as I/O GUI
counterpart (options, feedback etc).

it is tru that Perl/Tk is a very good option. But there so much support for
Tcl counter part and the perl/Tk is always too much behind. Tck/Tk 8.0 look
very good and muhc more mac like but what is the status of a macPerl/Tk
stuff ?

You could do that already in macApp, but it will be exactely the same inter
application communication stuff to talk between macPerl and an
macApp/pwerplant/dropshell like application and the facespan front end.

I think we are talking here about very little UI requirements especially
changing script preferemce/options. In this area applescript communication
to display a self running dilaog/view and grab its parameters on the close
event is irrelevant for the speed issue against a full integrated toolbox
call inside your perl script.
