Back when I was in Famous Programmer's School in the early cretaceous period ('81, '82-ish) we believed these terms went with these (highly informal) definitions: > > Multiprocessing: Use of more than one CPU (not possible with ONE CPU), presumably for some noble computational purpose (as opposed to say, paperweights). > *nod* Mine was: Multiprocessing vs Multiprocessors. One was processes (ie: programs), the other processors (ie: cpus). Both were used to denote being able to run more than one program at a time. But the terms could have merged and I've just been a closet case for too long here at NASA. :-) %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% When I came here back in 1984, I met someone who had lived in ClearLake for over ten years. ClearLake is about 15 minutes south of Houston (and is the site of the Johnson Space Center or JSC). This person didn't know where the Astrodome was and thought that the major shopping center (The Galleria) was close to San Antonio (about 300 miles away). ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
