Ahem, you're *both* right:

 - The default partition is too small for anything but pure text processing 
   tasks.
 - The increase to 8M was an accident (or rather, it was my personal setting
   that escaped from the laboratory).

In future versions, I might settle for a preferred value of about 4M.
