According to Amitava Basu: > > I downloaded Quid Pro Quo version 2.1 which is a freeware. > It says that I must have Open Transport 1.3 to run the software. > It comes with MacOS 8. Unfortunately in India we are way > behind and OS 8 is not available. Not even 7.6. The problem > is that there are only a few macs in India. Well, some wrong > policy decision has led to this and Apple has no market what > so ever here. Even the softwares are way overpriced. > > I went to Apple Software site and found the listing of 1996 > downloading options for OT 1.1.2. That's the current one! > Will it work with QPQ 2.1? Can you tell me from where I > can download OT 1.3 ? > You should go back to the site for QPQ and download version 1.x. Version 1.x works with FreePPP, OT, MacPPP, or any other PPP software. I was unaware that version 2.1 put such restrictions on you. I know for a fact (because I use it all the time) that OT v1.1.2 will work with QPQ v1.x. In fact, if you can not find QPQ v1.x for some reason let me know and I will e-mail you the version I have. Just e-mail me at sim@flash.net so it goes to my home account rather than my work account. This will help me to remember to archive the files so I can send them to you. All other software which Apple is giving away should be at their web site (http://www.apple.com if I remember correctly). But always remember too that you should make a back-up copy of your current set-up before installing an upgrade. You never know but what the current stuff might be too new for you to be able to use it without upgrading your OS. Have fun and let me know if I can help further. ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
