[MacPerl] Limits in MacPerl?

Hello all,

I have begun work on my first MacPerl project and have hit a problem that
I hope you can help with.

Background: The small non-profit agency I work for has been mailing
surveys to our clients. The results have been stored in a Filemaker Pro
database. There are 18 questions and 18 demographic categories on the
survey. My job is to write a report that will come up with the average
response, per question, by each of the 18 demographic categories. The
result should look like a grid with the questions running along the
x-axis and the categories running along the y-axis. The questions can
have 3 or four possible answers.

I am using a Performa 6360 with 40 megs of ram. The MacPerl version I am
using is 5.1.9r4, patch level 5.004.

For two days, things were working well. I would write code for one row,
test it, and then if there were no errors, proceed with the next row.
When I finally finished the last row, I saved my work. I then proceeded
to run the report. instead of seing the results, I recieved a type 113
error message. It told me to save my work and re-boot the system.

Several reboots later, the error message has switched to a type 2.

This program is big. A little over 4,000 line. I can run and syntax check
smaller programs. The script does work on our SUN Sparcstation, so syntax
is correct. I am at a loss as to how to proceed.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
