Basically, you should go by the *intent* of the license which is that you
should be free do do anything "ethical".

Absolutely. In the given case, it would be good to

 - Make it obvious that you're distributing a subset of the distribution.
 - Point out where the full distribution is available.

As long as those two points are covered, I'm all in favor of subset
distributions.
