[MacPerl] shuck 1.4 crashing on lookup

I've got a pair of problems with Shuck 1.4, apparently tied to each other
and to Shuck's default memory partition:

a) The long hierarchical menu with all the nifty MacPerl specific stuff
does not appear unless Shuck's memory is boosted from its default, and

b) when I pointlessly attempt to use the lookup command when the long
MacPerl menu is not present, I get a hard crash -- the dialog box
disappears but space behind it is not redrawn, the cursor disappears and
the machine freezes. Macsbug does not come up, though it is installed.

In the past, I've had this lockup-on-lookup problem whenever Shuck wasn't
"aware" of macperl, and didn't have the long Macperl menu. However, in the
past I always seemed to be able to get that menu by launching Shuck from
one of MacPerl's help menu commands. Now I wonder if it's not all just a
function of memory.

Boosting Shuck's memory from 450k to 850k solves the problem, apparently
every time. At 650k, launching by dragging the "Shuck Help" file onto the
app, it was inconsistent, loading the longer menu about twice in six tries.
The lookup function works just fine when there's enough memory to load the
full menu. In each case there's gobs of free memory, upward of 40MB.

I would like to know if the default memory partition is satisfactory for
other people. Pending results, I'd suggest boosting the default to the
800k range for the next distribution go-round.

Thanks for all your work, Matthias et al.; MacPerl is a great gift (and so
is Shuck, when it's working).
