I think everyone missed my point. All these suggestions work great if I'm using BB-Edit (which this time I am because I prefer it). But do the same options exist for all the other text editors out there? What if I want to modify my scripts in MS Word (dodging rotten tomatoes) or Alpha or TexEdit (a few other text editors I've seen)? This same thing applies to output files. Yes, I can change the GUSI resource (thanks for the info, this one I didn't know) but when I upgrade, I have to remember to do yet one more thing. It seems that since a prefs file is already there (I can see it -- it's called MacPerl 5 Preferences in my System:Preferences folder), why not add in an extra 16 bytes that would contain the type and creator of scripts and output files? me -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Dennis Little mailto://dennis.j.little@lmco.com Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space mailto://metnet@worldnet.att.net Sunnyvale, CA Web: http://www.lmms.lmco.com/ Phone: 408/756-2170 LMMS: O/EA52 B/076 C/3E8 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
