Sorry, All. I found what I was doing wrong -- I was checking the file in the temporary directory after it was uploaded instead of in the *original* directory. Essentially, it had already been converted to an MPS creator because the uploaded file is a *copy* of the original file and the copy was made by the script. I've got it working now!
